Hi,
DataLoad Classic's Macro loads will certainly load data in to R12 Self Service forms and this includes the Suppliers form. If you find Classic meets your needs then you don't have to upgrade to Professional. However, Professional provides Browser Control functionality and that enables DataLoad to integrate with Internet Explorer. That integration means DataLoad injects data directly in to the form fields and DataLoad won't run faster than the browser - the normal Dataload delays can be set to 0 and DataLoad will dynamically adjust its wait time on each cell according to what the browser is doing. This approach means Self Service loads are much faster and more reliable with Browser Control. So DataLoad Professional isn't essential for loading into Self Service but it does provide significant benefits and the cost of purchase should be repaid many times over in saved time and frustration (but of course we would say that!).
If you have very high volumes of data to load then DataLoad Professional can also load directly in to the database and you could use the Oracle's suppliers API and/or open interface from DataLoad. That approach requires technical skills and the performance of Browser Control means the database approach is generally not needed but it is worth knowing that it is an option.
You might also be interested in a screen cam on the DataLoad web site that shows a R12 Self Service Suppliers load with Browser Control:
http://www.dataload.com/video/index.htm
The load in the screen cam is actually quite slow because the load was run over the Internet, but that does show how Browser Control manages the load and keeps it on track even with some significant variations in performance of the forms.
Thanks,
Jonathan |
