Hi,
We have a custom budget application using an Oracle database and built on Oracle Forms. I've built macro loads which work fine with the application but occasionally it gets ahead of BESS and enters data in the wrong place. I've tried using delays and that has helped. It says the professional version will stop when it encounters an error using forms load.
First, would forms load even work with a custom application? If it does, would stopping on error only apply to Oracle Applications or would it also apply to our custom application? I'm trying to avoid situations where the custom application would accept the keystrokes because they're valid and keep going. For example, on one page there are two 5 character accounting segment fields where a valid value for the first field might also be a valid value int he second field. I can justify getting the professional version but how does it know what consitutes an error in a custom application? Thanks in advance.

Greg,
The ability to stop on error and keep in sync with loads is generic to Oracle Forms and not Oracle Applications so these features of forms loads do apply to custom applications. However, DataLoad is designed only to edit loads for Oracle Applications and does not currently support other applications written using Oracle Forms. This is technically possible but to date there has not been the customer interest to extend DataLoad in this direction. This could change in future but at present the Macro loads are your only option.
Thanks,
