Thanks, log file received. Did you still get the " Failed to set data for '' " error after 'UNABLE to LOAD RECORD.DLL' and did DataLoad then not start?

I don't know why the problem is not not happening but there is a new error! Can you confirm whether you just have one version of DataLoad installed on your PC? Assuming there is just one copy installed, please check the directory where DataLoad is installed and let me know whether a file called record.dll exists.

I can only find 1 dataload.exe (the new one of today) in c:\Program Files\Dataload.
I cannot find a file called Record.dll |

Thanks. When you installed the patch the old dataload.exe should have been backed up (in the same directory) and the date added to the file name. Can you tell me the size of that dataload.exe file please?
Thanks,

Thanks. There will also be an old dataload.exe file, the one backed up when you installed the patch. That will have been renamed to include the file's date and time in the name. The name will be like the following, although it might not be exactly the same as in this example:
dataload.exe.18 December 2009 111716
Please let me know the size of that file.
Thanks,

Kristel,
Thanks for that, I understand what is happening now. You were using an older version of DataLoad that would report this error when attempting to write to the Windows registry when the user did not have the necessary permissions. That bug is fixed in the latest versions of DataLoad, hence the patch I sent you doesn't report this error although you do get the record.dll error. That latter error is because the patch was designed to be applied over DataLoad V5 and your install is missing some of the V5 files.
What you should do now is download and install DataLoad V5. That will fix the original error your reported and you will then have a complete V5 install so won't see messages about missing record.dll files, etc. I think when you have upgraded to V5 everything should work correctly.
Thanks,
Jonathan |
